Artifact Motherhood - A Slow Childhood

Your childhood is a slow one. Filled with long days of doing as you please, gaming with friends, wrestling each other to the ground whilst blackberry picking, snuggling on the couch watching movies and having the strangest conversations about why one of your farts sounded like a mouse. I look back on the pictures I make and all my worries about whether you are happy and enjoying life, if I do enough to keep you entertained or whether or not we are doing our best for you, melt away. Your childhood may be a slow one but I believe that’s the best kind. One day, I hope you look back on these memories and feel the same, treasuring the quiet and the crazy, the love and the madcap shouting. I make these memories, just for that reason. So we can all remember how truly lucky we are.

Welcome to Artifact Motherhood. This is a collaboration of artists from around the world who have come together to share our stories of the joys and struggles of our journey. Through our writings and visual records we want to create memories that are more than photographs with dates written on the back. These are the artifacts we are leaving behind for our children and for generations to come.
